Brunei Darussalam celebrates the 1448 Ilal Hijrah with the reading of End of Hijrah Year and Hijrah New Year Doa at all mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide on 16th June late afternoon. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the ceremony at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; AND His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Upon arrival His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairperson of the Executive Committee for the National Level Major Islamic Event Celebrations; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence as Co-Advisor.
The ceremony commenced with the 3 times reading of End of Hijrah Year Doa led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
21 cannon shots marked the arrival of the New Hijrah Year.
The mass Fardu Maghrib prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, who also led the reading of Hijrah New Year doa.
Yang Berhormat Pehin also led the Sunat Hajat prayer and reading of Doa selamat.
This year's celebration with the theme 'Hijrah Penyelamat Aqidah' or Hijrah the Saviour of Faith, was jointly-organised by Ministry of Religious Affairs; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Baiduri Bank Sendirian Berhad.
